"Bring back Martin & Su" demand four (4) people

Martin but definitely not Su during Essex FM gig

Four people got up extra early this morning. Armed with placards, they descended on Glebe House in Chelmsford with venom in their throats. Bring back Martin and Su they demanded.

Just four.

The Essex FM breakfast duo were axed by the station after the pair made allegedly lewd comments about Scouts. No one actually heard the "gaff" but it was something to do with the Scout Associations' new Sex Education scheme - the pun? "Dib Dib Dib Dob Dob Dob, Put a condom on your knob". Hilarious.

The local paper - the Echo - has gone crazy. It's the most read article on their website and has - no doubt - shifted a few more papers. Of course they didn't question whether it could....shock horror... be a publicity stunt. Good lord, no. Outrageous for even suggesting it.

Even the forums are spouting: "outrageous; our country used to be great; I demand them back". The best comment of the lot has to come from someone calling him/herself Ryder:

"Here is what all you fans need to do, its simple, dont listen to ESSEX fm until they reinstate Martin and Su, its as simple as that people.Also this country needs to sort it self out now before its to (sic) late, we cant say anything we like anymore without being attacked by the correct people!!!! Also we cant even fly our own flag anymore without being called a racist and Im on about the St Georges flag." Classic.

Let's dig a bit deeper though:

The Global Group has done this before - most recently taking off "Welshy" on Capital.

It's half term and they both have children - and hey, they may just have been due a break.

The station controller says they haven't been removed permanently.

It's an interesting strategy from the station - on one hand it gets people talking, but on the other will people switch off as a result? I expect Martin - who's actually a nice fella - would have had little say in this. Next quarter's RAJAR figures should be interesting.
